Graphic Design

I like to use simple, bold designs with a lot of contrasts. I usually pair up two accent colors that are on opposite ends of the color spectrum: red and blue, purple and yellow. I like to use curved shapes with these bold colors, giving many of my designs a retro feel.

Photography

The photos, which are mostly product shots, speak for themselves. The secret to good product shots is to use a high-quality digital camera and take lots of pictures while you move around a lot. I don't like to do cut-outs, they look bad unless they are done by someone who is very, very good at what they are doing. I use colored flat-sheets as the background of my photos.

Animated GIFS and Flash

I think moving images are one of the things that make the Web so interesting. They must be used judiciously, however, because they can detract from the content. For a long time, I used a Flash navigation system on my personal site, because designers like to impress each other with their skills. I decided, however, a return to the basics would work best for me in the long run.
